The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the suspension of Zamboanga Del Norte governor Roberto Uy after he was found guilty of Simple Misconduct. Uy was ordered suspended for three months without pay due to the illegal dismissal of six employees of the local government in 2013.

The Ombudsman found that the services of six probationary employees were terminated when Uy assumed office as governor in 2013.  The dismissal order was appealed to the Civil Service Commission which “declared that the termination of complainants’ services was invalid and directed the Provincial Government to restore complainants to their previous positions without delay and to pay back salaries.” Despite this directive, Uy failed to reinstate the complainants.

Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales directed the Department of Interior and Local Government to immediately implement the decision. ###
