The Office of the Ombudsman met with the University of the Philippines (UP) on 19 February 2026 at the UP Executive House in Diliman, Quezon City for a briefing and to discuss the joint project “Aral at Asal.” The initiative aims to develop and produce video materials promoting Filipino values of good citizenship, integrity, and anti-corruption, which will be distributed to education stakeholders and the general public. The project is being implemented through TVUP. During the meeting, Dr. Grace Javier Alfonso (TVUP) delivered the opening message, followed by a project status report by Marc Jayson Santos (TVUP). Messages of support were delivered by Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla, TVUP General Manager Danilo Concepcion, and UP President Angelo A. Jimenez, who emphasized the importance of collaboration between public institutions and the academe in promoting ethical values and strengthening public integrity. Selected personnel of the Office of the Ombudsman participated in the Online Training on Strengthening Anti-Corruption Efforts through Intelligence-Based Investigation (IBI) Methodology conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA), the training arm of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), from 10 to 12 February 2026 via Zoom. The training brought together officials and practitioners from anti-corruption agencies, law enforcement bodies, prosecution services, audit institutions, and other relevant government, international, and professional organizations across Asia engaged in governance, integrity, and enforcement functions. Through the program, participants were introduced to key Intelligence-Based Investigation approaches, including the integration of undercover techniques, financial analysis, and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence. These competencies aim to further equip investigators and practitioners with advanced tools to detect, investigate, and dismantle complex corruption schemes and effectively address evolving forms of administrative malpractice. Held at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Culture Center and John Hay Hotels, the five-day conference provided a structured platform to align the Office’s constitutional mandate with emerging governance challenges, judicial reforms, and global anti-corruption commitments. In his remarks, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin C. Remulla underscored the importance of collective leadership, strategic clarity, and institutional cohesion in advancing reforms and strengthening public trust. Participants immersed in sessions on systems thinking and strategic frameworks to guide discussions throughout the conference. Key plenary sessions featured resource persons from national and international institutions, including the UNODC, the Supreme Court, the DepEd, and the OCTA Research Group, who shared insights on governance trends, judicial reforms, and corruption challenges. The latter part of the conference focused on translating strategy into action through change management planning, communications planning, and strategy-to-ownership workshops, enabling participants to identify concrete actions, early wins, and institutional commitments. Assistant Ombudsman Jose Dominic F. Clavano IV presented the conference’s next steps, outlining the process for refining and vetting priorities identified during the sessions.
