OMB Remulla: No Public Official Is Beyond the Reach of the Law
QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Reaffirming the Office of the Ombudsman’s unwavering commitment to accountability and the rule of law, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla declared that no public official—regardless of rank or position—will be spared from investigation and prosecution when evidence of wrongdoing exists.
“Mataas man o mababa, tatamaan sa atin pag mali ang ginawa,” OMB Remulla said.
Speaking before participants of the Field Investigation Course, OMB Remulla called on investigators to remain steadfast in carrying out their duties, highlighting the vital role they play in correcting misconduct and preserving the integrity of government service.
“Pag may naliligaw ng landas, kailangan tayo ang magpakita at ituwid ang landas na bumabaluktot,” OMB Remulla stressed.
OMB Remulla reminded Ombudsman investigators that the Office of the Ombudsman has a duty not only to investigate erring public officials but also to reinforce the values of integrity and honor in public service.
He stressed that every fair and impartial investigation helps strengthen public confidence in government institutions and affirms that no one is above the law.
“Yun ang ating katungkulan na pinapanagutan at sinumpaan na lahat ay ating titignan. Iayos ang pag-iisip ng taumbayan tungkol at nauukol sa katatagan ng diwa bilang isang naglilingkod sa gobyerno,” OMB Remulla said.
The remarks formed part of the Ombudsman’s message during the launch of the Field Investigation Course, an initiative aimed at strengthening the investigative capabilities of Ombudsman personnel.
The training equips investigators with the knowledge, discipline, and practical skills necessary to conduct professional, objective, and evidence-based investigations in pursuit of justice, accountability, and good governance.#
