OMB strengthens partnerships for integrity and accountability
QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Office of the Ombudsman reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening citizen-centered accountability and institutional collaboration by accepting the invitation of the Right to Know Right Now Coalition (R2KRN) to provide a resource person for its Capacity Building and Learning Workshop on “Political Numeracy and Accountability Mapping: Tracking Accountability Documents; Understanding Public Injury” from June 3 to 5, 2026 at the B Hotel in Quezon City.
Representing the Office of the Ombudsman, Director Maria Melinda S. Mananghaya-Henson, who concurrently serves as Director and Graft Investigation and Prosecution Officer IV of the Field Investigation Bureau, Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon.
Director Mananghaya-Henson led a session focused on accountability pathways within the Ombudsman process, including evidentiary considerations, institutional fact-finding, and the critical role of proper documentation in accountability work.
“The Office of the Ombudsman is probably the strongest accountability institution, as its mandate comes from no less than the Constitution. However, it can only be as powerful as the citizenry that supports it,” Dir. Mananghaya-Henson said.
The engagement reflects the Office’s 2026–2032 Strategic and Operational Plan anchored on Integrity, Innovation, and Inclusivity — strengthening public trust through partnerships, evidence-based reforms, and a whole-of-society approach in the fight against corruption.
By sharing its investigative processes and institutional experience, the Ombudsman continues to empower stakeholders and promote a culture where accountability is not only enforced — but collectively built. #
