The Office of the Ombudsman convened its Strategic and Operational Planning Conference (2026–2032) from 09 to 13 February 2026, bringing together senior officials and key personnel to define the institution’s long-term reform and modernization agenda.

Held at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Culture Center and John Hay Hotels, the five-day conference provided a structured platform to align the Office’s constitutional mandate with emerging governance challenges, judicial reforms, and global anti-corruption commitments.

In his remarks, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin C. Remulla underscored the importance of collective leadership, strategic clarity, and institutional cohesion in advancing reforms and strengthening public trust.

Participants immersed in sessions on systems thinking and strategic frameworks to guide discussions throughout the conference.  Key plenary sessions featured resource persons from national and international institutions, including the UNODC, the Supreme Court, the DepEd, and the OCTA Research Group, who shared insights on governance trends, judicial reforms, and corruption challenges.

The latter part of the conference focused on translating strategy into action through change management planning, communications planning, and strategy-to-ownership workshops, enabling participants to identify concrete actions, early wins, and institutional commitments.

Assistant Ombudsman Jose Dominic F. Clavano IV presented the conference’s next steps, outlining the process for refining and vetting priorities identified during the sessions.

The conference marks a significant milestone in the Office of the Ombudsman’s continuing reform journey. The priorities and insights generated will inform the development of the institution’s strategic roadmap for 2026–2032, reinforcing its commitment to integrity, innovation, accountability, and citizen-centered service.
