OMB preventively suspends Acting Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Aplasca

The Office of the Ombudsman has formally issued an Order for the preventive suspension of Acting Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Ranada Aplasca, effective immediately.

Under the terms of the Order, respondent Aplasca is placed under suspension without pay for a period not to exceed six months, pending the final termination of the administrative adjudication regarding his case.

The Ombudsman has determined that Aplasca’s continued stay in office poses a risk to the integrity of the ongoing investigation into the events that occurred at the Senate building on May 13, 2026.

The preventive suspension is necessary to preserve documents and evidence currently under his control and custody and to prevent any potential prejudice to the adjudication of the case.

Further, the Office of the Ombudsman has likewise issued a Subpoena Duces Tecum for the CCTV footage of the second floor as well as the basement parking from May 13-14, 2026. #
